PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially and advantageously producing a carboxylic acid amide in good yield from an amino group-containing nitrile compound. SOLUTION: Formic acid and a hydrogen halide are made to act on an amino group-containing nitrile compound represented by the following general formula I: R-CN (R denotes a group selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups containing one or more amino groups as substituent groups and aryl groups containing one or more amino groups as substituent groups) in a solvent to produce a carboxylic acid amide represented by the following general formula II: R-CONH2 (R denotes the group selected from the group consisting of the alkyl groups containing the one or more amino groups as the substituent groups and the aryl groups containing the one or more amino groups as the substituent groups).
