PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily secure a work space at the installing time by arranging the other end side of a select cable on the upper side of an automatic transmission so as to extend to an engine room, arranging the other end side so as to point in the longitudinal direction, and arranging a link mechanism for transmitting select operation to a range switching mechanism by converting the select operation in the vertical direction. SOLUTION: A select cable 22 is extended to an engine room 2 so as to penetrate through a dash panel 6 by holding the intermediate part by a cable bracket 28. In this select cable 22, the other end side is arranged on the upper side of a transmission case 10, and the extending direction is arranged so as to point in the longitudinal direction. A link mechanism 32 for transmitting select operation on the other end side of an inner cable 26 to a switching lever 16 of a range switching mechanism 12 is arranged on the front side of the transmission case 10. With this constitution, a work space in installing the select cable 22 can be easily secured. The curved part of a small radius of curvature is not formed in the select cable 22, so that the select operation can be smoothly transmitted.
