PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage to a pressure generating element caused by the use of an ink jet recording apparatus under a high humidity condition by stopping the wasteful application of a signal to the pressure generating element under a high humidity condition. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording apparatus, a humidity detector 90 detects humidity and, in the case of a low humidity state, a drive control part 6 applies a micro-signal to the piezoelectric vibrator 17 corresponding to a nozzle orifice not emitting an ink droplet to generate micro-vibration in a meniscus of ink in a degree not emitting an ink droplet in the nozzle orifice. In the case of a high humidity state, the evaporation of a solvent from ink is suppressed and, therefore, the drive control means does not apply the micro-signal to the pressure generating element corresponding to the nozzle orifice even if the emission of the ink droplet is out of operation. |
