PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint to cover a gap between skeletons adjacent to each other which is excellent in follow-up property in the width direction (X-direction) of the gap between the skeletons. SOLUTION: An upper panel 2 whose tip surface is a downwardly inclined surface 5 is turnably fitted to a skeleton A in the distal direction (Y-direction) of the gap between skeletons, a lower panel 3 in which a landing base part 6 provided with an inclined surface is arranged on a base end part of the upper surface is turnably fitted to a skeleton B in Y-direction, and tip parts of the upper panel 2 and the lower panel 3 are slidably lapped on each other on a gap C between the skeletons in the gap width direction (X-direction). The lapped parts are connected to each other through an expandable member 4. The upper panel 2 is landed on the base part 6 with an expansion joint 1 of this constitution, and excellent in follow-up property in the X-direction.
