PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin composed of each a specific acid component and glycol component, with phosphorus element content, or the like thereof within each specified range and having flame retardancy at specified levels, thereby good in environmental acceptability, heat resistance and color tone, and therefore useful in applications such as household electric appliances, electrical/electronic parts and automobiles. SOLUTION: This resin is such one as to be composed of an acid component predominant in a naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and/or an ester-forming derivative thereof and a glycol component predominant in butanediol and a phosphorus-contg. glycol of the formula (R is a 1-6C alkyl, aryl or the like) e.g. 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-[2,3-di(2-hydroxyethoxy)carbonylpropyl]-10- phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide}, with a phosphorus element content of 0.3-2.0 wt.%, calcium element content of 10-250 ppm, melting point of 210-240 deg.C, chip b-number of <=15, and VTM-0 in flame retardancy in accordance with the UL Standard 94.
