PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container extraction mechanism and a container handling device that can take out a container to be transported, while hardly moving other containers. SOLUTION: A container handling device 21 includes a container extraction mechanism 31, an extraction mechanism lifting device for lifting and lowering the container extraction mechanism, a container lifting device 29 for lifting and lowering the container drawn out by the extraction mechanism, and a travel device 26 on which the extraction mechanism, the extraction mechanism lifting device, and the container lifting device are mounted. The travel device and the extraction mechanism lifting device move the extraction mechanism to a position opposite to the front and rear of the container 2a to be transported. Next, the extraction mechanism lifts the container 2b above the container to be transported and extracts the container to be transported. The container lifting device loads the extracted container to be transported on a load chassis.
