PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make efficiently clean a rotary filling machine while restraining equipment and running cost by a method wherein the revolving speed of a rotary filling machine is increased and decreased periodically after a filler bowl is filled with cleaning liquid, and the cleaning liquid is supplied and circulated in the filler bowl during a period between the increase and the decrease of the revolving speed. SOLUTION: When a rotary filling machine is stopped with a filling valve 30, a control valve 19 and an operation valve 20 closed upon decrease of the relative velocity, an intensified relative velocity based on inertia of cleaning liquid 4 is produced. Accordingly, a strong shearing force arising from the cleaning liquid 4 is repetitiously applied to the internal wall surface of the filler bowl 3 and the external surface of a stem 31 both of which are stained badly, and effect of cleaning to both of the surfaces can be improved extremely. Furthermore, timing of stopping the rotary filling machine can be put forward by decrease of relative velocity arising from circulation of the cleaning liquid 4, contributing to reduction of cleaning time as well as improvement of cleaning efficiency. Therefore, the rotary filling machine can be cleaned efficiently while restraining equipment and running cost.
