<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive new compound with high gas absorbency per volume, useful as a gas storage material, in particular for methane- predominant gas. SOLUTION: This new compound is shown by the formula: Ru2(OOC-R- COO)2.X (R is an alkylene, alkenylene, alkynylene or the like; X is a halogen or BF4), e.g. a compound of the formula: Ru2(OOCCH=CHCOO)2.Cl. This compound of the formula: Ru2(OOC-R-COO)2.X is obtained by dissolving, suspending or emulsifying (A) a dicarboxylic acid of the formula: HOOC-R-COOH (e.g. fumaric acid), (B) a ruthenium metal salt [e.g. a compound of the formula: Ru2(CH3COO)4.Cl] and (C) a metal halide such as lithium chloride in an organic solvent such as methanol pref. at -20 to 100 deg.C to effect deposition of a dicarboxylic acid metal halide complex which is then recovered. This compound has a three-dimensional channel structure pref. with a fine pore size of 5-14Å.</p> |
