PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolation bearing which can be produced easily with the cost suppressed. SOLUTION: A seismic isolation bearing 1 comprises upper and lower steel plates 2, 3 and a supporting column 4 clamped between them. The supporting column 4 is provided by forming a very low yielding steel plate having a high shear deformation capacity into a shape of square tubing and constitutes almost a box shape together with the upper and lower plates 2, 3. If a strong earthquake occurs, the supporting column 4 is deformed by a strong tremor thereby suppressing the tremor transmitted to borne members and breakage to the borne members (girder members). Upper and lower plates 2, 3 constituting the seismic isolation bearing 1 and the supporting column 4 are made of iron and can be produced easily at ordinary iron works where metal cutting and welding are possible thereby suppressing the cost.
