PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent increasing of viscosity of ink that may occur when a head unit is left unused for a long time. SOLUTION: There is disclosed an ink jet recorder wherein a head unit 6 having an ink cartridge 8 attached to a recording head 17 is reciprocated along with series of printing operations and the head unit 6 is moved to a position where at least a part of the ink cartridge 8 is hidden into an upper case at a home position HP. A ventilating hole closing means 9 for closing a ventilating hole by facing the ink cartridge 8 at the home position HP of the head unit 6 is provided to the upper case. |
