1,187,843. Electrodeposition of micro-cracked chromium. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. April 4, 1967 [April 13, 1966], No.15291/67. Addition to 1,122,795. Heading C7B. In a method of electrolytically coating objects with a micro-cracked chromium coating as described in the Parent Specification in which the object is first electro-plated with nickel, the nickel coating is deposited from an aqueous acid bath containing (a) a nickel salt selected from nickel chloride, sulphate, sulphamate and fluoborate, (b) an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a strong acid, e.g. sodium, potassium or ammonium chloride, fluoborate, sulphamate or sulphate, and (c) one or more of the following compounds: acetic, gluconic, tartaric, malic, formic, lactic, citric and succinic acids and the nickel, sodium, potassium and ammonium salts of acetic, gluconic, tartaric, malic, formic, lactic, citric and succinic acids, electro-deposition being carried out at a current density of 1-15 Amps/dm<SP>2</SP>, and at a maximum temperature of 35‹ C. |
