PURPOSE:To provide a recording liquid composed of an aqueous medium and a specific dye, having excellent water-resistance, lightfastness, etc., of the recorded image and storage stability of the recording liquid and useful as an ink for ink-jet recording or writing utensil. CONSTITUTION:The objective recording liquid is produced by compounding (A) 0.5-5wt.% of a dye of formula I [R<1> and R<2> are H, COOM-substituted 1-3C alkyl (M is alkali metal, ammonium, etc.), etc.; X and Y are H, methyl, etc.; (m) is 0-2; (n) is 0 or I] (e.g. the compound of formula II or formula III), (B) an aqueous medium composed of (i) 45-89.5wt.% of water and (ii) 10-50wt.% of a water-soluble organic solvent (e.g. ethylene glycol) and (C) a surfactant, etc. |
