PURPOSE: An input buffer for a semiconductor device is provided to reduce a current consumption generated during a data input by operating only a register storing the desired data according to an output type. CONSTITUTION: An input buffer comprises a conversion part(100), a first and a second storage part(200,300), and a select part(400). The conversion part(100) receives plural strings of data to convert the characteristic of the data in response to a data input control signal and a clock signal. The first storage part(200) sequentially stores the data of the plural strings in response to the clock signal. The second storage part(300) stores corresponding ones of the data stored in the first storage part in response to the clock signal and plural select control signals. The select part(400) selectively outputs the data from the first and second storage parts in response to a mode select signal, the select control signals and the data output control signal.
