PURPOSE: A side air bag cushion is provided to minimize damage to a passenger by an air bag cushion even if the passenger does not sit on a seat in a proper posture. CONSTITUTION: A side air bag cushion having a variable vent hole is comprised of a lower chamber(10a) filled up with air from an inflater(20); a main partition plate(30) prepared with first and second vent holes(32,34) on an upper end of the lower chamber; and a high chamber(10b) installed on an upper end of the main partition plate. A first curved portion(36) is formed on one side of the main partition plate and an auxiliary partition plate(40) is installed on the other side of the curved portion. A second curved portion is formed on the auxiliary partition plate and a third vent hole(42) is formed on the second curved portion. As air is let in the high chamber from the lower chamber, the first and second curved portions are spread. The second vent hole and the third vent hole are overlapped. Accordingly, damage to a human body is prevented by variably regulating the dimension of the vent hole.
