PURPOSE: Device and method of self-repair of a vehicle are provided for allowing a driver to repair simple disorder for oneself by selecting a maintenance module for determining abnormality in a system. CONSTITUTION: A data input module(10) inputs data for selecting maintenance mode either audio mode or navigation mode. On input of data, data output from an engine control module(30) and a transmission control module(40) are decided. A system controller(20) outputs control signals for controlling operation of peripherals in whole and according to the signals, a CD ROM(Read Only Memory) driver(50) outputs image data displaying maintenance method and a repair center location. A decoder(60) decodes and feeds the image data to the system controller(20) for a graphic controller(70) to control a graphic displayed on a monitor(80) according to the output signals from the system controller. Upon selection of maintenance mode by a driver, disorder with a system is decided to display the problem onto an image screen for repairing. Then the repairing method is displayed in a moving picture.
