PURPOSE: An emitter composition is provided which has a uniform emitter face, a large area of field emitter and a good workability. CONSTITUTION: The emitter composition comprises 1- 50 weight % of graphite, 0.01- 20 weight % of dispersing agent such as polyoxyethylene nonyl phenyl ether derivatives or polyvinyl pyrrolidone, 0.01- 50 weight % of silane or colloidal silica binder and water. Thus, 5 g of graphite having 0.7 micrometer of particle size, 0.2 g of polyoxyethylene nonyl phenyl ether derivatives and 30 g of water are mixed and stirred for 48 hours in zirconium ball. 0.5 g Of silane is added in the mixed solution, stirred for 6 hours to give a slurry for the emitter composition.
