METHOD FOR CORRECTING ERROR OF ON-SCREEN DISPLAY DATA IN A SATELLITE BROADCASTING RECEIVER

PURPOSE: A method for correcting an OSD error of a satellite broadcast receiver is provided to occasionally check a damage of an OSD header information and recover an error automatically by temporarily saving an OSD header information in a separate buffer and regularly comparing an OSD header information saved temporarily with an OSD header information saved in a memory method. CONSTITUTION: A power source of a satellite broadcast receiver is on(201) and OSD data are saved in a memory unit(203). A controlling unit selects an OSD header information from OSD data and saves in a buffer(205). A normal mode is performed(207). In case a user calls an OSD screen to display various information(209), an OSD screen corresponding to a user's request is displayed(211). The controlling unit reads a header information from OSD data saved in the memory unit(213) and compares the information with an OSD header information saved in a buffer(215). The controlling unit detects a damage of an OSD header information saved in the memory, adds an internal counter(217), and compares a counted value with a designated value in advance(219). A header information saved in the memory unit is renewed in case a counted value is not same with a designated value(223). The controlling unit turns off a present menu screen(225) and initializes each graphic device(227). The controlling unit resets a whole system in case a counted value is same with a designated value.
