PURPOSE: An antenna is provided to have a wide band of frequency so as to maintain a good speech quality even though the frequency is shifted. CONSTITUTION: An antenna for a portable wireless equipment which operates as a helicalantenna when being contracted and operates as a rod antenna when being extended, comprises a spring(30) which is built in the helical antenna and has a desirable length, and a metal rod(31) from which a tap(32) is projected. A coil of the spring is formed to have a desirable gap therebetween. One end of the spring is wound on the tap projected from the metal rod. The metal rod is provided with a cross-shaped cutting made of a brass and a C-ring made of a beryllium brass. Thereby, since the coil gap of the spring is increased, the band width of frequency which can be covered by the antenna is also increased.
