PURPOSE: A method for driving plasma display panel using high frequency is provided to decrease a power consumption by an electric discharge using a high frequency in a lighting section. CONSTITUTION: A high frequency with several tens of mega hertz(MHz) or more is provided to a maintaining electrode during a period(a), however a discharge is not occurred because a charged particle is not generated in an inner portion of a discharge cell. A high frequency pulse into which a phase is inverted to a high frequency pulse provided to the maintaining electrode is provided to an address electrode according to data during a lighting period(b). The high frequency discharge is maintained by using the charged particle occurred when discharging the lighting by the high frequency pulse is provided to the maintaining electrode and a DC voltage(Vc) are provided to the address electrode during a maintaining period(c). As a voltage except for a high frequency voltage extent is provided to the maintaining electrode during a removing period(d) and the discharge is stopped. |
