摘要 |
PURPOSE: A still image and moving image coding method using a wavelet-based fractal approximation(WBFA) is to enhance an objective/subjective picture quality and reduce a time required for coding/decoding operation. CONSTITUTION: In a still image and moving image coding method, each range block is constituted by one wavelet band which has an arbitrary resolution. A domain block is constituted by a wavelet band which has a lower resolution than the range block by one level and has the same orientation or different orientation. The range block having a variance less than a threshold is not coded. The domain block selects blocks which has an energy greater than a threshold. A sample interval of the domain block is independent of a pyramid level and the domain block is selected irregularly and densely according to an energy amplitude.
