PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for controlling a screen display of a display is provided to enable a user to watch a high-quality video by changing the position of a main screen, and by simultaneously changing the position of a caption to a blank part. CONSTITUTION: A parsing block(201) receives a data bit stream and corrects an error. An MPEG decoder(202) decodes video data from the parsing block(201). A video position change unit(203) changes a display position corresponded to the data outputted from the MPEG decoder(202). A subvideo decoder(204) decodes a subvideo of the parsing block(201). A color processing unit(205) performs a specific color process of a blank part among data outputted from the subvideo decoder(204). A subvideo position change unit(206) changes a display position corresponded to the data outputted from the color processing unit(205). A video mixer(207) mixes the data outputted from the video position change unit(203) and the subvideo position change unit(206). A microcomputer(209) controls an operation of each block.
