PURPOSE: A hot air pressure type expansion valve and a refrigerating cycle apparatus using such a valve are provided to allow a wide range of adjustment for flow and pressure of fluid by utilizing expanding substance of which phase varies into liquid or gas in accordance with change of temperature. CONSTITUTION: A hot air pressure type expansion valve comprising a housing(301) having an inlet and an outlet which are integrally formed to communicate with each other, a displacement generating unit(302) arranged at the housing(301) and which generates displacement in a specific direction in accordance with a temperature, a heating member(303) disposed in the displacement generating unit(302) and which generates heat so as to permit the displacement generating unit(302) to displace in a specific direction, an adjust member(304) fixed to the displacement generating unit(302) and which selectively adjusts the discharge area of the outlet of the housing(301) according to the degree of the displacement of the displacement generation unit(302), and an elastic member(305) for supplying a restoring force to the displacement generation unit(302).
