POWER CONTROL DEVICE FOR REDUNDANT RESET OUTPUTS IN AN ATM SYSTEM AND METHOD OF POWER CONTROL THEREOF

PURPOSE: A power control device of power system and a method thereof are provided to enable fast insertion and fast swapping with simplified circuit so as to increase reliability and efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A power control device of power system is composed of following units. A power controller has input unit, which receives power from a power device, and an output unit, which outputs the power selectively. A reset output logic unit provides the power from the output unit of the power controller to a reset output unit. An output enable control logic unit gives out an output enable control signal to the reset output logic unit. A power monitoring unit controls the power controller and the output enable control logic unit. A power controlling method flows through the following steps. The power is supplied to the power monitoring unit and the power controller in a power up sequence. A control pulse is supplied from the power monitoring unit to the power controller. An output enable control signal is supplied to the reset output logic unit. The control pulse is no longer supplied when the power becomes stable. The power supplied from the input unit of the power controller is transferred to the output unit of the power controller when the control pulse is no longer supplied. The power from the power controller is supplied to the reset out logic unit.
