METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECODING A TURBO CODE

PURPOSE: A method for decoding a turbo code is provided to reduce a bit error and to suppress an increase of a repeated frequency by obtaining a diversity gain coupling a log-likelihood ratio obtained from each component decoder. CONSTITUTION: A method for decoding a turbo code comprises the steps of: starting to sequentially decode from a first one of (n-1) component decoders to then generate a first log-likelihood ratio after completing the first decoding process; starting to sequentially decode from a second one of the (n-1) component decoders to then generate a second log-likelihood ratio after completing the second decoding process; sequentially generating third to (n-1)th log-likelihood ratios according to the same manner as the first and second decoding processes; adding an optimized weight to a constituent component of the log-likelihood ratios; and coupling the log-likelihood ratios thus added to a coupler to obtain a diversity gain.
