PURPOSE: A method for allocating a channel of a transponder manages a waste channel generated by a channel allocation of a transponder channel allocation responsive to a mirrored method as a specific usage, according to the number of channels required by a data transmission characteristic, and prevents a channel waste of a transponder. CONSTITUTION: A method for allocating a channel of a transponder allocates a channel of a transponder to a terminal station by a mirrored method by using a satellite, and forms a communication path between both terminals. The method divides a waste channel as a specific channel usage according to TDM channel and S/A channel. The method stores a channel information according to a channel usage to a predetermined memory, and determines whether the received channel allocation requirement data is a traffic channel allocation requirement data. If the received channel allocation requirement data is not the traffic channel allocation requirement data, the method determines whether there is a channel allocation information data in a memory of a corresponding channel usage divided in the channel usage division setting step. If the corresponding channel area is allocated, the method allocates a channel of a corresponding channel area. Thereby, a channel waste is prevented.
