PURPOSE: A method for improving a receipt alarm function of a portable telephone is provided to use one's own voice and a preferable music as an alarm sound by correcting arbitrarily an alarm sound. CONSTITUTION: A method for improving a receipt alarm function of a portable telephone is to solve the problem of a restricted alarm sound in the prior portable telephone. The method is to solve the problem by providing a specific alarm sound when a multitude of telephones ring the same alarm sound at the same time. The method comprises the steps of: correcting arbitrarily a receipt alarm sound; selecting a receipt alarm correction mode in a function selector(6); and storing the selected mode to a sound input unit(3), a sound process unit(5), and a sound data storage unit(7).
