PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to stabilize a synchronization of a receiving system to facilitate data restorations by detecting a horizontal synchronization signal and data start position with a relative position. CONSTITUTION: A vertical synchronization correlater(31) calculates a correlation between a received signal and a vertical synchronization signal set in advance. A maximum position detector(32) finds out and outputs a symbol position having a maximum correlation every field. A reliability measurement part(33) checks a reliability degree with respect to an output of the maximum position detector(32) and recognizes the output of the maximum position detector(32) as a position of the vertical synchronization signal if the reliability degree is over a critical value.
