PURPOSE: A device for converting raster/column of an ink jet printer is provided to support a printing function at high image quality and at high speed. CONSTITUTION: A write counter(31) counts a write count value(VAL1) in accordance with a write DMA recognition signal(ACK1) and resets the write count value(VAL1) when a count clear signal(C_CLR) is asserted. A read counter(32) counts a read count value(VAL2) in accordance with a read DMA sensing signal(ACK2), and resets the read count value(VAL2) when a count clear signal(C_CLR) is asserted. A control logic unit(33) stores input data(DATA_IN) in a proper position of a file register(34) or reads data from a proper position using the write, read count values(VAL1)(VAL2), and inserts space data in the file register(34) or clears all stored files based on a space inserting signal(INS) and a file clear signal(F_CLR). A file register(34) temporary stores data to be raster/column converted and outputs the data as output data according to a control of the control logic unit(33).
