INTERFACE BETWEEN HEADEND FOR CABLE TELEPHONE SERVICE AND SUBSCRIBER TERMINAL

PURPOSE: An interface is provided to provide a cable telephone service using a hybrid fiber/coax(HFC) transmission line to subscribers of existing fixed communication network by defining a call establishment and a call release with respect to layer 2 and layer 3 between a headend and a subscriber terminal station. CONSTITUTION: An initialization is performed for a link establishment between a headend(HDT) and a subscriber terminal(CT). A reception signal is detected from the subscriber terminal station(CT). A channel is assigned from the headend to establish a call in case of a call originating signal. A channel to which the headend is established is withdrawn in case of a release request signal. A reception signal is detected from the headend. The headend(HDT) assigns a channel in case of a call incoming to establish a call with a corresponding subscriber terminal(CT). A channel to which the headend is established is withdrawn in case of a release request signal.
