发明名称 APPARATUS FOR FABRICATING HIGH VOLUME FRACTION SIC PARTICLUATE PREFORM AND FABRICATION PROCESS THEREFOR
摘要 <p>PURPOSE: Provided is a manufacturing method of preforms containing SiC powder of high volume fraction by ball milling and pressing method instead of a conventional vacuum assisted extraction method. The resultant preforms are applied for metal matrix composites in electronic packaging and aerospace industry fields demanding low temperature expansion and high thermal conductivity. CONSTITUTION: The preform is manufactured by the following steps: ball-milling SiC reinforcing material comprising 0.1-10% of inorganic material(SiO2), 0.1-5% of organic material(cationic starch), being 3-16 times in particle difference between organic and inorganic materials, 0.1-5% of flocculant(polyacrylamide), and distilled water for a homogeneous slurry, being pH2-4; loading it inside a mold; discharging water between lower(1) and upper(2) molds or to absorbents(3) which lie on the lower mold and below the upper mold, individually, by pressing with an upper punch(5) under 0.50-3.00MPa of pressure; drying at room temperature for 24-48hrs and at 100deg.C for 4-24hrs; and calcining at 800-1100deg.C for 1-8hrs. The resultant preforms have more than 60% of volume fraction.</p>
