PURPOSE: A computer having a device for selecting automatically a network is provided to select automatically a PSTN and an ISDN by using a modular jack selection circuit. CONSTITUTION: A computer having a device for selecting automatically a network comprises a Public Switched Telephone Network(PSTN) modem(116), an Integrated Service Digital Network(ISDN) modem(115), and a modular connector(220), and a modular jack selection circuit(210). The PSTN modem uses a PSTN to transmit information. The ISDN modem uses an ISDN to transmit information. The modular connector connects and disconnects a modular jack. The modular jack selection circuit selects automatically a modular jack of the PSTN and a modular jack of the ISDN.
