PURPOSE: A local word line driver reduces the number of transistors consisting of a circuit, reduces a chip area, and enhances an operation characteristic by reducing a word line enable time. CONSTITUTION: A local word line driver includes a block selection signal output part(32), a first word line driver(33), and a second word line driver(34). The block selection signal output part includes a Vbb generator(31) for generating Vbb signal having a value of -1 volt after receiving Vss(0 volt), and a block selection signal output part for generating a cell block selection signal(BS)(BSB) by Vbb signal and input address signal. The first word line driver uses a first block selection signal(BS0) generated from the block selection signal output part as a gate common input, and has a first PMOS transistor(MP1) and the first NMOS transistor(MN1). The second word line driver uses a second block selection signal(BS1) as a gate common input, and has a second PMOS transistor(MP2) and the second NMOS transistor(MN2). Thereby, the local word line driver reduces the number of transistors consisting of a circuit, reduces a chip area, and enhances an operation characteristic by reducing a word line enable time.
