PURPOSE: A method for controlling power is provided to obtain an initial synchronous of a reverse traffic channel, when a mobile station is far away from a base station with a high speed. CONSTITUTION: A power control method of a reverse traffic preamble in a mobile communication system comprises the steps of: checking whether the reverse traffic preamble is received from a mobile station, to which a reverse traffic channel is assigned; checking the receiving strength of the reverse traffic preamble; transmitting a corresponding power control bit among a plurality of preset power control bits, and performing the power control of the reverse traffic preamble; checking whether the obtaining operation of the initial synchronous for the reverse traffic channel is completed; performing the control operation from the first step again, when the obtaining operation of the initial synchronous is not completed.
