PURPOSE: An outdoor device of an air conditioner is provided to reduce the power consumption, and to improve the cooling efficiency by selectively using a heat exchanger and a fan according to the operating load of the air conditioner. CONSTITUTION: When an indoor device of an air conditioner is used all, the whole part of a heat exchanger is used by opening all of a middle pipe laying(53b) and a upper pipe laying(53a) by operating a first valve for converting a coolant(56) and a second converting valve of coolant(56') in a control unit(60). An upper fan(54') and a lower fan(54) are rotated by operating two electric motors(55')(55) according to a signal of control unit, thereby the air filled in the whole part of the heat exchanger(52) are forcibly moved. The operating number of indoor device is reduced, a coolant is passed only the middle and the lower parts of the heat exchanger(52) through the middle and the lower pipes(53b)(53c) by closing the pipe laying with operating a second converting valve of coolant(56') in the control unit, thereby the falling of high pressure of the coolant generated in the heat exchanger is prevented. At the same time, the upper fan(54') is stopped, and the lower fan(54) is operated, so the power consumption is reduced by obtaining the appropriate amount of wind fitted to the size of heat exchanger.
