PURPOSE: A method for detecting tape/reel is provided to reduce number of ports for a microprocessor through time dividing operations of a start/end detect unit and a supply reel/take up reel detect unit. CONSTITUTION: By generation of a high potential, first to third LED(Light Emitting Device) are turned off. After a light emitting off time(t1), a reel light emitting on time(t2) is generated to a second output port for turning on second and third LEDs. After a specific time of the reel light emitting on time, rotation of a take up reel is detected. After a specific time of the reel light emitting on time, rotation of a supply reel is detected. After a reel light emitting on time, a light emitting off time is generated to turn off second and third LEDs. After the light emitting off time, the first LED is turned on through generating a tape light emitting one time. After a specific time of the tape light emitting on time, a start point of a tape is detected. After a specific time of the tape light emitting on time, an end point of the tape is detected.
