PURPOSE: A method for testing a digital trunk level of an India type exchange system is provided to measure a level and a noise by a software program, by using a digital trunk connected between stations, so as to simplify a system hardware. CONSTITUTION: If an originating trunk seizes a receiving trunk, the receiving trunk transmits a response signal to the originating trunk. The originating trunk transmits a multi frequency to the receiving trunk. The receiving trunk delivers a test tone signal to the originating trunk for a set time. If the multi frequency is not received with a preset level, the receiving trunk decides a line failure. If the test tone signal is not received with a predetermined level, the originating trunk decides a line failure.
