A series of air jets directed vertically upward from a zone immediately below the shed (3) acts between shed and reed (7) front face, to lift away flocs. A further series of jets on a vertical section of the same pipe, is directed along and away from the weft passage, opposing the direction of weft insertion. These jets cast away flocs, to fall directly to the floor. An Independent claim is included for equipment carrying out the method. This comprises rigid pipework (13) extending over the entire length of the loom, below the shed formation zone, including nozzles (15) directed upwards, towards the weaving region. The pipework is connected by a flexible hose (12) to a blower (11) with a vertical section (14) at its other end, likewise equipped with nozzles (16) turned towards the weft route. Their jets oppose weft advance in direction; they are disposed between the zone of weft capture and the entrance into the shed. Preferred features: The air jets are produced by a source at low pressure, of the order of 0.5 bar.
