The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for cutting a narrow leader WF in connection with web feeding, which leader WF runs along the surface of the support fabric 17, and which leader WF, when cut, can later be spread to a cellulose web W of normal width. In the method a guide piece 1 with a bevelled end section 4 is used. The guide piece 1 is displaced laterally in between the felt 17 and on to the running leader WF in front of the said bevelled end section 4, and the leader WF is lifted up from the felt 17 by means of the guide piece 1. The leader WF is cut when it is lifted clear of the felt 17. <IMAGE>
