METHOD FOR ELIMINATING NOISE IN A TELEVISION SIGNAL AND A CIRCUIT FOR PERFORMING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A circuit and a method of eliminating noise of TV signal are to detect a signal level of a noise portion in the TV signal to adjust a luminance signal passing band and a contour compensating level, thereby efficiently eliminating white noise. CONSTITUTION: A detecting portion detects a noise level included in an input luminance signal. The first low pass filter(100) controls a low pass level of the luminance signal according to a signal input from the detecting portion. A contour compensating circuit(200) performs a contour compensating operation of the luminance signal according to the signal input from the detecting portion. A subtracting portion(500) receives a high band level of the luminance signal input to an input terminal of the first low pass filter and a high band level of the luminance signal passed through the first low pass filter and the contour compensating circuit. A noise level detecting circuit(300) is connected to an output terminal of the subtracting portion to detect the noise level included in the luminance signal.
