The invention concerns a dispersion-shifted optical fibre, comprising a core and a sheath, with a refractive index profile consisting of a rectangular central part surrounded by an annular part with an index less than the sheath index, then of the sheath with a null chromatic dispersion for wavelength value lambda 0 ranging between 1380 and 1450 nm, and a chromatic dispersion at 1550 nm ranging between 8 and 12 ps/nm.km. The invention also concerns the use of said optical fibre for a wavelength multiplexing transmission system.
