The method involves using a modulated carrier signal (bs), at a given transmission rate of pocket-orientated digital information. A sampling clock information. (azi) is communicated in a preamble (amb). A sampling signal (as) is generated at a frequency corresponding to the symbol transmission rate of one or more of the modulation symbols representing digital information to be communicated. The phase of the sampling signal undergoes phase modulation so that the phase-response (angle) (phi) of the sampling signal (as,tas) is held to approximately one value. With reception of the sampling point information (azi), holding of the phase-response (angle) (phi) to one value is stopped.
