The invention relates to a device for treating malt, comprising a drum (12) for receiving the malt (30) and a device for passing air through the inside of the drum. Said drum rotates about its longitudinal axis. The inventive device is characterised in that the device for passing air through the inside of the drum comprises a stationary flow channel (62) which surrounds the drum (12) in parts and which is divided into a chamber for incoming air (66) and a chamber for outgoing air (68). Said chambers are each connected by the flow of air to the inside of the drum. The method for treating malt in this device comprises the steps of germinating and kiln-drying the malt. According to the invention, both of these steps are carried out in the drum. During both steps, the drum is rotated as air is simultaneously guided through the malt in the drum.
