The sprays (4,4') situated round the edges of a normal football pitch 70 m x 105 m may have a spray radius of 23.5 m. The two sprays (3) in the middle of the pitch have a radius of approximately 32 m. Spray fittings are used which are sunk in the ground and may be covered over when a game is being played. The sprays are controlled to give even coverage, with the water flow being varied as the sprays rotate, or the speed of rotation may be varied with the angle (alpha).
