摘要
962,122. Proportionate mixing of flowing fluids. BENDIX CORPORATION. Oct. 31, 1961 [Feb. 6, 1961], No. 38860/61. Heading B1C. [Also in Divisions F1 and G3] In apparatus for proportioning one fluid with another for example in fuel control apparatus for an internal combustion engine which includes a fuel conduit 32, 54, Fig. 1, in which a control valve 56 is mounted downstream of metering means 36, the control valve is operated by a pressure-responsive member 68 subjected to the difference between a pressure in a passage which communicates with both the downstream side of the metering means through a servo valve 98, Fig. 2, and through a calibrated orifice 122, with the downstream side of the control valve and the pressure downstream of the control valve, the servo-valve being controlled by a servo-regulator 22 comprising an element 74 responsive to the pressure differential in the fuel conduit across the metering means and an element 72 responsive to the air flow delivered to an I.C. engine 12. The fuel is supplied under pressure via conduit 34 to metering means 36, which includes a mixture control plate 38, having metering restrictions 40 which register with conduit 42, and an idle control plate 44 connected to induction passage throttle 46 by levers 48, 50, 52. Metered fuel passes through control valve 56, conduit 58, flow divider 26 and nozzles 28 which discharge into the induction passage. Another metered fuel portion flows through chamber 84, servo valve 98, chamber 64 and calibrated passage 122 to chamber 66. Chamber 78 is connected to throat 20 and the induction passage by passages 86, 88 and chamber 80 is connected to impact tubes 18 by passage 90 and the pressure differential in chambers 78, 80 tends to move diaphragm 72 to the left. Chamber 82 is connected to fuel inlet 32 by conduits 92, 34 and chamber 84 is connected to conduit 54 by conduit 94. Jewelled bearing members 104 in bearing 102 are mounted in partition 76 and support a rod 110 secured to movable wall 74. A spring-loaded bushing 114, reciprocably mounted on rod 110, has grooves 116 of different depths, to provide an adjustable lost motion. The difference in pressure between the unmetered fuel pressure in chamber 82 and the metered fuel pressure in chamber 84 urges diaphragm 74 to the right. Servo fuel flow to chamber 66 is regulated during normal operation by diaphragms 72, 74 which seek a balanced position, or during idling by the force of spring 120, to position servo valve 98. Servo fuel in chamber 64 passes through calibrated passage 122 into chamber 66 and the pressure differential between chambers 64, 66 tends to open the control valve 56 against spring 124. The operation of control valve 56 to increase fuel causes a downward movement of diaphragm 68 to give an accelerating fuel charge. The apparatus may be used to control the supply of one fluid in relation to the flow of another fluid, e.g. for controlling the discharge of de-icer fluid into a conduit carrying gasoline or for blending fluid chemical compositions. Specifications 551,125 and 923,875 are referred to.
