The device aligns material alternately longitudinally and transversely, whilst passing through various processing units. The arrangement has several processing units for the photographic material (17) arranged in sequence. There is an upper and lower series of rollers for circulating and feeding the photographic material, which are driven by motorized drives. There is also a spooling arrangement for unspooled photographic material. Guiding and feeding arrangements are provided for the photographic material, which are mounted on the processing units. These define suitable changes in the direction of the material so that it runs alternately longitudinally and transversely with respect to the arrangement, whilst passing through the various processing units. The arrangement can contain a pneumatic system used to force the material against guide and transport surfaces, and at least one electric motor.
