The method involves positioning at least two solid state detectors (9-11) with a line or surface-shaped pixel structure wrt. at least two colour distribution prisms (1-3) and connecting them to the prisms. At least one light beam is divided into reference light beams at the prisms and fed to the detectors. The reference light beam images formed on the detectors are fed into a computer (22) as pixel data, the image co-ordinates of each image are computed and the sizes and positions of the images are compared and if appropriate the detector positions are altered wrt. each other and/or the prisms. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for adjustment and assembly of optical colour distribution systems.
