The invention relates to a method for aluminothermic joint welding of two rails separated by a gap, wherein the steel produced in a melting pot in an aluminothermic process is cast into a casting mold consisting of at least two parts and surrounding the ends of the rails. The cavity between the ends of the rails is filled through a free space located on the head of the rail and in the risers provided in the mold part. In order to better utilize melting energy and improve melting of the ends of the rails when a two-part casting mold is used, the steel is cast through a single flow riser that is provided in one of the mold parts and connected to the head area and the base area of the casting mold while in the other mold part, steel flows out through the riser that is connected to at least the base area and to at least the head area of the casting mold.
|
