<p>A lifting aid comprises a first elongate member (12) having a hand grip (14) at one end thereof and means (16) at the other end for engaging an object to be lifted, and a second elongated member (18) mounted for pivotal movement (18a) relative to said first member between a stowed position in which both members are adjacently aligned along the longitudinal axis of said first member, and an operative position in which the second member extends at an angle to said first member whereby force applied to the free end (20) of said second member is transmitted to said first member to aid lifting of the object.
