Process for gasifying or degasifying dry or moist finely ground or bulky biomass and waste comprises passing pyrolysis gas, produced in a degasifier (1), and coke to a gasifier (2) after passing through a crusher (5) joined to the lower end of the degasifier. The gasifier has a combustion chamber (3) in the upper part for combusting the coke and/or pyrolysis gas, and a glowing bed (7) onto which the coke falls. An Independent claim is also included for the apparatus for carrying out the gasifying or degasifying process.
