A novel human-derived G protein-coupled receptor protein or a peptide fragme nt thereof; a nucleic acid encoding this receptor protein and its derivative, etc. The G protein-coupled receptor protein derived from human hippocampus o r the nucleic acid encoding the same and its derivative are usable in determining a ligand (agonist) to the above G protein-coupled receptor protein, as preventives and/or remedies for diseases in association with the malfunction of the above G protein-coupled receptor protein, as gene diagnostics, in screening a compound capable of changing the expression dose of the receptor protein or its peptide fragment, etc.
